Farz Edraki is an Iranian-Australian writer, editor, and host. She wears many different hats after a decade in the media, which is odd because hats don't suit her very much.
Farz is the host of the newly-launched SBS Queer Renegades podcast, which shines a light on the rebels who helped shape queer hisory.
She also hosted the ABC podcast Days Like These, named Best Entertainment Podcast (2023) at the Australian Podcast Awards.
As a writer, she's published comedic non-fiction in The Belladonna & The Guardian, and long-form features for the ABC and TV criticism for The Age. A short story she wrote was published in Growing Up In Country Australia. She's worked as a commissioning digital editor at the ABC.
In TV, she's worked on The School That Tried to End Racism, The House with Annabel Crabb, and Tonightly with Tom Ballard. A series she produced and directed, Hey Stranger, was recognised in the 2020 Webby Awards.
She co-hosted the independent election podcast for teens, Bite the Ballot. She has appeared at the Sydney Writers' Festival, BBC Radio 3 Contains Strong Language Festival, and hosted many a book launch and panel discussion, including this one for Sydney Ideas.
Farz is also a sometimes university tutor, and is finishing her PhD in testimonial technique in literature. See her latest piece in the Sydney Review of Books.
